Oak Hills Family Practice will be closing July 12, 2024. Oak Hills Med Spa and Wellness Center will open in the same location on July 15, 2024.

Hi there!

I’m Dr. Short with Oak Hills Family Practice. After 25 years of practicing family medicine, I have decided to close the family practice portion of my office and seek another direction. It has truly been a blessing to serve the people of Tyler. I have been blessed with many wonderful patients over the years and am thankful and humbled to have been able to share in their lives, their highs and their lows: the birth of their children, deaths of a family member, marriage, hospitalizations-so many stories. Family Medicine is truly a calling. And you will never know how grateful I am to have been a part of so many of your lives. One of my best days was a day I saw a 2-week-old baby and a 103 year old precious lady on the same day! A lot of good times but some bad. Some of my more difficult days were spent seeing patients during the day and then going at lunch and in the evenings to see my wonderful father in hospice care. Going to my own chemotherapy appointments and then returning to see patients. And oh, wow, who can forget the COVID months? Barely being able to keep the doors open and make payroll. Those were some crazy times.

The new direction I am taking now will involve longevity. How can I help patients with their HealthSpan, not just LIFESPAN? Geri Ann will be joining me in the Wellness Center. WE want to work on prevention and preservation. We want to help you look good and feel good on the outside and the inside, to discuss lifestyle and metabolism. Optimization.

The family practice portion will be closing Friday, July 12, 2024. Again, I am grateful and blessed by all of you. My patients, my staff and nurse practitioners who have worked tirelessly over the years. I am not retiring, just rewiring.

If you have any questions, feel free to call the office or send a message via the office portal. The new OAK HILLS Wellness Center will be in the same location. You can and will still be able to access your records via the portal, and can receive a full copy of your chart by signing a MEDICAL RECORDS release.

When the foundation of my building was poured 7 years ago, I etched this verse in the concrete that night:

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

I continue to pray for God’s plan to be fulfilled in my life and will continue to pray the same for all of you.

Also, Romans 8:28 reminds us, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. “

God bless!
